What's on Your Wish List?

Hey all, Ali here from Worducopia and I just have to say, Wow! So much enthusiasm about buying books for the holidays! You guys rock.

In all your generosity, don't forget the other end of holiday gift giving--your own wish list. Everyone knows you love books, but they have a hard time buying them for you because you buy so many for yourself and they don't know what you already have, right? Here's where the wish list comes in.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it:

1. Make yourself a wishlist! (Or update your wishlist if you already have one)

    • IndieBound, a U.S. website devoted to helping connect book lovers with independent booksellers, has a new wish list feature.
    • Powells also has a wish list and ships worldwide.
    • Most of the major online booksellers also provide wish list features.

2. (Option A) Link to your wish list on your blog, and/or write a post about your wish list. Be sure to add a link to your post on the Mr. Linky so we can all come check out your wish list! Other questions to answer in your post: What type of books do you like to receive as gifts? Why did you choose these particular books for your wish list?

3. (Option B) Same as Option A, but do it in the comments of this post.

4. Don't forget to share your wish list when friends and relatives ask for gift ideas. Maybe they'll even be inspired to make one of their own!

Have to get my thoughts together and then I WILL do this!

I like using Amazon.ca for movies, Chapters.ca for books, and LibraryThing for my TBR!

This is a awesome idea and alot cheaper in the long run.

I usually end up campaigning for gift cards which often end up being used for books since my wish lists tend to be a bit "out of control" to some.

Barnes is my favorite store for new books since the member discount ends up making prices the same or better than Amazon and I can still go to the nearest store instead if I don't want to order online or wait for something to ship thats in the store.

I like Powells too but mainly for used books and since they're local for me I can go digging on the shelves at the store too not just look online.

Dani and Serena, I couldn't comment on your blogs so I'll say here that I enjoyed looking at your lists.

Forstrose, Powells is my local bookstore too. :-) Though you're more likely to find me at the one on Hawthorne than the big City of Books.

Thanks to all the participants so far, it's been great fun to see all your lists. Mine will be up by the weekend. I'm like Lenore--it'll take me some time to come up with my wish list!

Hi,
I am looking for a new people book club in my area--94611. Any ideas on how to find one or several.

Mine isn't a complete list, but there are a lot there. =)

Reward, I think that Librarything.com has a way to connect with people in your area. Maybe that would be a good place to start?

Kylie, I had to laugh when I got past your Stephen King and all the mysteries and up popped Strawberry Shortcake! Very eclectic taste you've got there, LOL!

I keep a link to my Powell's wishlist in the links section of my blog. Of course, some time ago it became "our" wishlist, because somehow my list ended up with books my husband wanted on it, too (but most of them are my contributions).

It's a really, really long list.
